We can't express enough how satisfied we are with the geothermal system you installed in our new home.
As you know, our home is classified as “all electric”, with geothermal heating/cooling. We are heating/cooling 2500+ sq. ft. and at times over 2700 sq. ft. when using our enclosed porch. Our thermostat is always set at 71 or 72 degrees. The furnace blower runs at a constant low speed around the clock, to get the maximum benefit from our electronic air cleaner. Every room maintains a constant temperature with no hot/cold spots. The vents are also “cracked” open in the full basement and temperature is maintained at 60-65 degrees. Our washer/dryer and stove/oven are electric. We have lights on all the time and running a large refrigerator/freezer in the kitchen, a medium one and a small freezer in the garage.
We have an additional garage where I do occasional welding.
We moved in the house in July, 2003 and used the air conditioning for a few months.
We have had a very cold extended winter and as you well know our house is out in the open of a former corn field, and exposed to much wind.
The reason we mention all of this is because our electric bill has averaged just over $163/month from July 2, 2003 to Feb 3, 2004. That is electric heating, cooling, and hot water. This is our main utility bill, the others being city water, phone, and satellite dish. The highest bill was $234 when I was also running a large dehumidifier in the basement (for no apparent reason), and Christmas lights were on. This is at a time when family and friends and co-workers are complaining about $200-$300/month gas bills alone!
We realize that insulation and construction also come into play, but Scott took everything into consideration and was very thorough with his cost projection estimates.
We feel our electric demand is quite substantial, so this makes our heating/cooling cost seem even less a percentage of the bill - and, we feel, emphasizes the efficiency of the system.
So you can se how pleased we are.
We are very happy with the products, service and technicians (especially Casey Kemp) from Apple Heating.

I would add that in my experience, your technician, Dan Crowell, did the most thorough job on checking out our furnace we've ever had.
Dan was patient in explaining what he was doing, and very friendly. He explained why our electronic air filter should be cleaned more often do to the best job.
He used more equipment than most, was organized and neat. He was the first person to ever plug the test holes he drilled in the furnace ducts and cowling.
I was quite surprised that he adjusted the gas feed from the temperature control. No one had ever taken the plug out an adjusted it before! He explained his reasons ant the benefits for us.
He had the experience to question the Bachrach meter read-out for the CO output and had a backup meter to confirm his suspicions.
Best of all, unlike my loving wife, he didn't comment on the condition of our basement!
Overall, a pleasant experience.

We wanted to write you a letter and tell you and your staff how pleased we are with out new heating & cooling system. You were right on the only when you recommended that we have an Arzel zoning system installed. With our old heating system we could not get the temperature above 67 degrees in our lower level family room. Now we can leave the thermostat set at 69, and when we are going to spend some time on our family room, we increase the setting to 72. It reaches that temperature in less than five minutes (actually 4 1/2, I timed it!). All this comfort and our utility bills have gone down too! You and your staff are to be commended for your knowledge and service in the business of heating and cooling.
