Geothermal Heating & Air Conditioning

Apple Heating & Cooling - Geothermal

If you are looking for a great new way to keep your home cool in the summer and warm in the winter, you may want to look into geothermal heating and air conditioning. Many people are not familiar with the particulars and benefits of geothermal systems, but when you learn more about them, you may find that a geothermal home heating and cooling system is just the thing you are looking for.

Apple Heating & Cooling has installed Geothermal Heating, Cooling and Hot Water systems in Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula and Cuyahoga County for over 25 years. The reason? – Low operating cost. There is nothing in the way of home heating and cooling that can provide the savings, comfort and convenience of a clean all-electric geothermal system.

What are Geothermal Systems?

Geothermal heating is so named because it is able to gather heat from the ground below and around your house and actually transfer it inside to keep you warm during the long winter months. What this actually means is that a geothermal system works much like a more traditional air source heat pump except that it gets its heat from the ground rather than the air.

This is done by circulating a fluid, usually a mixture of water and anti-freeze through a system of pipes installed in the ground below your house. This fluid is able to absorb heat from the ground and then return that heat to the compressor inside your house which then allows that heat to warm the air. Finally, the warmed air is circulated through the ducts of your home by an air handler or blower.

Once it has discharged the heat it was carrying, the fluid is then returned to the ground to pick up even more heat and start the process all over again. This is quite an effective way of heating your house in the winter, and what is even more remarkable is that a geothermal system can keep your house cool in the summer as well. To do this, the process is simply run in reverse, with heat being absorbed from your indoor air and then being transferred via the fluid to the ground below.

Benefits of a Geothermal System

Low cost of operation.
A typical 2500 square foot home in our market area with a geothermal system would use about $1200-1400 for all heating, all cooling and all domestic hot water.
Quiet Comfort.
Geothermal systems from Apple Heating & Cooling provide year-round comfort in your home. And they are quiet.
Clean and Safe.
Because geothermal systems are all-electric, there is no combustion. Without combustion there can be no soot or carbon monoxide. There is no outdoor unit in the yard for air conditioning, and no flu pipes or chimneys required.
Hot Water.
When we install a geothermal system we always include the Domestic Hot Water option. This means the unit will make hot water most of the time the system is running, saving hundreds of dollars per year in hot water cost.
Earth Friendly.
Because of geothermal’s incredible efficiency, geothermal heating, cooling and hot water is a great way to reduce our impact on the environment.
Affordable.
With the current 30% tax credit on qualifying geothermal systems, the installed cost is not a lot greater than traditional systems.
Peace of Mind.
Apple geothermal installations include our 10-year Worry-Free parts and labor warranty covering all repairs due to defects in materials or workmanship for 10 years, and our 55-year no-leak warranty on the ground loops.

Geothermal Installation, Maintenance and Repairs

Geothermal units have proven to require fewer repairs than traditional systems. This is because the system pressures do not see the extremes an air source heat pump would in the cold of winter and heat of summer. Geothermal systems work with the ground, not the air. The ground temperature below 5’ deep stays at a constant temperature of about 55 degrees. When the unit is running it is like driving your car at a constant 55 mph. The system just does not see the extremes. This leads to fewer repairs.

If you live in the Northeastern Ohio area, Apple is the place to come for geothermal home heating and cooling systems. We have extensive experience putting in these types of systems and we can help you to determine what exactly is the best option for you and your family. And once your new system is in place we‘re only a phone call away if you want to schedule maintenance on your geothermal system, or you find it‘s in need of any type of repair.
