Zone Control Systems
Having a central heating and cooling system in your home in the Greater Cleveland, OH area can greatly improve your quality of life. It enables you to keep your entire home at a comfortable temperature all year long, regardless of the conditions outside.
But, did you ever wonder why so many homes have a room or rooms that are too hot or too cold? Do you have one or more of these common problems? The upstairs of my home is too hot in the summer. My bedroom is too warm in the winter. I have one or more rooms that are too cold or too warm. Zone systems are the solution.
Imagine if you only had one light switch in your home. When you turn it on, all the lights in all of the rooms light up. When you turn the switch off, you turn off all the lights in all of the rooms. Well a home with only one thermostat is sort of like that. With a zone system you can have several thermostats providing optimal comfort in all areas of your home.
What Are Zone Control Systems?
Zone control systems are heating and cooling controls that actually allow you to separate your house into separate climate zones. These zones can then each be controlled individually, making it possible for you to keep your bedroom one temperature, the kitchen another and your living room still another.
These zone control systems consist of a zone control panel that communicates with the heating and cooling system, the zone dampers and the thermostats.
Benefits of Zoning
So why would you want to have this added level of temperature control? There are actually quite a few reasons. To begin with, you‘ll be able to heat or cool only the portion of the house that you‘re using at any given moment. This can save you a ton in terms of energy costs because without a zone control system in place, you‘d have to keep your entire house at the same temperature.
Being able to turn on the heat or air conditioning in only one part of the house means that you‘ll be using only a fraction of the energy you would need to heat or cool the entire thing. You can also set different temperature levels in different areas that you use a lot based on the type of activity you carry out there.
For instance, when you‘re cooking, you‘re probably generating a fair amount of heat. In the summer, that means you‘ll want some extra cooling in the kitchen area to counteract the heat you‘re producing. In the winter, on the other hand, you‘ll be able to turn down the heat in the zone that contains the kitchen because you‘ll be naturally keeping it warmer through your cooking efforts.
You‘ll also have an easier time keeping everyone in the household happy when they can each set their own temperature in their own area. It‘s pretty common for different people to be comfortable at different temperatures, but with conventional thermostats it was always necessary to compromise. With a new zone control system in place, you simply don‘t have to.
Wireless to the rescue
Until recently one of the major obstacles to the successful installation of a zone system was the difficulty in running the control wires from the new thermostats to the zone control panel. We have had jobs where due to finished basements, cathedral ceilings and other local conditions running a wire was just not practical.
But no more. We now have reliable wireless thermostats that allow us to easily install reliable thermostats in any room in the home.
Professional Zone Control Help
Of course, a zone control system isn‘t something you‘re going to install on your own. We offer several excellent options when it comes to whole house zoning and we can integrate them with whatever type of heating or cooling system you have in place already. You can also have a zone control system included with a new installation of a heating and AC system.
